Enhancing Apprenticeship Learning: Mastering End Point Assessments (Training Room 2) In-Person

End Point Assessments (EPAs) are a vital part of every apprenticeship, determining whether an apprentice has successfully demonstrated the required knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) set out in their apprenticeship standard. This practical, interactive workshop explores how to effectively design, embed, and support both integrated and non-integrated EPAs within apprenticeship courses.

Participants will engage with real-life examples, peer-led activities, and practical tools to:
•    Interpret EPA assessment plans and apply them to course design
•    Understand key differences between integrated and non-integrated models
•    Support apprentices through effective planning, formative assessment and feedback, and post-gateway engagement
The session includes a “Spot the Gap” that is a case-based quality assurance challenge, where participants will identify and resolve common errors in EPA assessment design and delivery, and a "Top Tips Carousel" that enables participants to share and collect practical strategies across themes such as curriculum design, apprentice support, and employer engagement.

Drawing on first-hand experience as an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO), this session offers actionable insights and collaborative problem-solving to enhance the delivery of EPAs in your own context.

Workshop Objectives
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
1.    Understand the role of EPAs in evaluating apprentice readiness within apprenticeship courses.
2.    Differentiate between integrated and non-integrated EPAs, including their implications for design, delivery, and support.
3.    Interpret and apply EPA assessment plans to align curriculum and assessment strategies.
4.    Identify and resolve common errors in EPA module design through a hands-on case study activity.
5.    Share and develop practical solutions for effective EPA design, delivery, and support via a peer-led Top Tips Carousel.
